I will introduce my talk by discussing the life and spiritual experiences that eventually led me to Arizona and my current calling and then discuss in detail the social justice activities on the border, especially those volunteer activities centered in Douglas. I’ll have some digital photos and informational slides to project for this part of the talk.
Bio: Married in Louisiana in 1963; 2 grown daughters (living in Virginia and Florida), 1 grandchild attending college here in Douglas.
Undergrad degree from LSU.
Worked as business executive for 30 years.
Law degree in Houston at age 50.
Private law practice in Houston from ’93-’99.
Retired and then, with wife Betty, lived on a sailboat in the Caribbean from ’99 to 2014.
5/5/2014 motorcycle crash/spiritual awakening.
Summer of 2015: Counseled mothers in Family Detention Centers in Karnes City and Dilley, Texas.
2016: moved to Tucson and became active with No More Deaths, Tucson Samaritans and Keep Tucson Together legal clinics.
July of 2016: Moved to Douglas to continue pursuit of Social Justice work on border issues.
