Justice as a Spiritual Practice

Sunday Service October 13: Justice as a Spiritual Practice

As Unitarian Universalists, we see our justice work as living out our values into the world. We covenant that “service is our prayer.” What might it look like to create a Spiritual Practice of justice work?  Janine Gelsinger will share with the congregation information about her life and the path that led her to the role of Executive Director of UUJAZ.  She hopes to build relationships within our congregation. She will show us a way to have social activism and spiritual practice meet in a daily ritual.
Bio:  Janine Gelsinger is the Executive Director of UUJAZ, the Unitarian Universalist Justice Arizona Network. She has worked previously as staff at UU Phoenix.  Currently she is serving on the national board of the UU Association of Membership Professionals, as well as on the Steering Team of the Shared Ethics + Accountability project of the UUA. When not speaking at City Council meetings, organizing protests outside of detention centers, or sharing lattes with grassroots organizers, Janine can be found at the park with her two daughters, Vivienne and Ramona.
